Child, Adolescent, and Young Adult Therapy
Helping Youth Grow
Youth therapy can help children grow emotionally stable, resulting in healthier and happier adults. Psychotherapy for children takes many forms, depending on the unique needs of your child. This could include play therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, or art therapy. Through these sessions, we will form an invisible connection with the child allowing for the “magic” to happen.
Therapy Techniques That I Commonly Use
Play Therapy
We use play therapy in my practice for younger children, a type of children’s therapy that uses play to help them talk through and express their emotions and inner thoughts
Art Therapy
Because children want to create, they often express themselves through their art. This art allows one to reach into a child’s world, viewing exactly how they are perceiving what is going on around them.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
This type of therapy teaches a skill such as learning to replace destructive thoughts with choice based thoughts and how to use coping techniques for controlling their behavior issues
Considerations For Parents and Caregivers
In order for counseling to be most effective, I must have open communication with the child’s caregivers. This ensures that I know exactly what to tackle and the improvements that have been seen at home. Additionally, I will educate caregivers on what to expect during the therapy process. And finally, I will tailor the therapy to the unique needs of your child and the issues at hand. I sincerely believe that success in child therapy is when your child wants to come back and make progress!
